Many thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing | Thomas & Mercer for gifting me a digital ARC of the latest in the Tracy Crosswhite series by one of my favorite authors, Robert Dugoni. All opinions expressed in this review are my own - 5 stars!
Detective Tracy Crosswhite doesn't typically lose her cool. But when an interrogation of a suspect in two cold cases, Erik Schmidt, shows that he has ties to the person who murdered Tracy's sister, memories start overwhelming her. When she makes a critical mistake during a shooting exercise, she is forced to take some time off. She heads to her hometown weekend house to regroup with her husband, daughter and their nanny. But a legal glitch has set Schmidt free and he's on Tracy's tail.
I would read Robert Dugoni's shopping list if available - he can write any genre and I love all his books. But this series has a special place in my heart - it's like connecting with old friends and memory slots me right back into the story and characters. As always, this book is a tense, gripping, cat-and-mouse police procedural and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. We are also introduced to a new character, Lydia, and I hope we hear more of her in future books. As always with Dugoni's books, this is highly recommended.
