After they both lost their spouses in a tragic event which drew them closer, Senator Whit Montgomery and DC philanthropist Sloane Chase are now married. Sloane is preparing for hip replacement surgery complicated by the fact that she has lupus. In order to have help for her both at home and for her foundation work, Whit hires Athena to act as a home health aid and assistant to Sloane. But after the operation, Sloane grows sicker, a feared side affect to her lupus. Sloane begins to distrust herself and all those around her.
This was a quick read because it was hard to put down! I liked the short chapters with varying viewpoints of the major characters that left you questioning events and people along with Sloane. The DC political scene was a great backdrop to this thriller and the ending was perfect!
