9.19.2019 - One Little Secret

One Little Secret

Many thanks to NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books, and Cate Holahan for the opportunity to read this domestic thriller.  4 stars - kept me intrigued until the end.

Three neighborhood couples decide to rent a beach house for a much-needed week's vacation away from their kids and busy lives.  Susan organized the vacation to get her husband, Nadal, away from his tech start up and spend some time with her.  Louis and Jenny, both doctors, bring their secrets along with them, as do Ben, a stay-at-home dad and his lawyer wife, Rachel.  Lots of alcohol loosens inhibitions and accusations are thrown about infidelity.  One of the women storms off and is found dead the next day.  Detective Gabby Watkins is investigating the possibility of a date rape when she is called to work on the murder investigation.

For some reason, I kept getting confused in the beginning about which spouse belonged to the other, but I eventually got the relationships cemented in my brain.  Besides being a good thriller, lots to think about here with some hot button topics as well as our responsibility to others in our lives for what we witness.
